Launching on the mainnet is UrbanChange Protocol, a dual-token economy paradigm that encourages social and economic sustainability in small communities around the world. The protocol and its services will be made available to the general public in the upcoming weeks.
A new paradigm in measuring and rewarding local engagement is presented by the UrbanChange Protocol. The protocol equips community leaders, including businesses and individuals, to make the most of their financial resources by encouraging local involvement in diversity, sustainability, education, preventive healthcare, and shopping locally.
An early adopter benefit, such as a grant intended to jump-start success, will be available to determined residents and leaders who are among the first to introduce UrbanChange in their communities following the impending mainnet launch.
By encouraging residents to take part in community activities, UrbanChange’s dual-token methodology helps community leaders plan, track, and achieve their goals. In the end, this results in a robust, circular local economy that promotes enhanced economic and social development and fosters a genuine sense of community ownership among inhabitants.
ImpactTokens and LocalCoins are the two tokens used in the protocol’s model. Together, these tokens encourage a virtuous cycle of social interaction and economic development.
A regional currency is the LocalCoin. People can use their LocalCoins to make purchases at local stores that have been approved by the community by volunteering their time, recycling, or encouraging education.
ImpactTokens are earned by using LocalCoins. Members of the community who own ImpactTokens have access to shared ownership perks as well as voting and governance privileges. ImpactTokens ultimately serve as a barometer for the social participation and economic health of metropolitan areas.
Local Hero Program and Grants
To encourage a special cycle of economic growth and social effect, localities will be able to launch their own LocalCoins and ImpactTokens through the future mainnet launch. UrbanChange has made it possible for community leaders from all over the world to apply for a grant of the 5,000 UrbanChange Tokens required to launch their community on UrbanChange Protocol in advance of the launch. Community leaders that sign up for the Local Heroes Program and take the appropriate steps to open their UrbanChange Vault will be awarded a total of 10 grants.
UrbanChange’s Local Heroes Program is intended to help the organization’s representatives in localities all around the world. The curriculum gives leaders the tools they need to publicise and successfully introduce UrbanChange in their local communities.
“At UrbanChange we believe that change can start anywhere,” UrbanChange Co-Founder Ortal Tevel wrote, “It doesn’t matter if you are a municipality, a private or non-profit organization, or an individual. If you want to lead change, UrbanChange is designed for you. Nobody is too insignificant. You just need one community leader to drive change and take more and more people with them… In the end, every action counts, and collective action will ultimately create lasting change.”
With a dedicated Discord channel, UrbanChange is now accepting motivated individuals who are interested in bringing about change in their local areas to join the Local Hero Program.
